Loft Conversions

Craig Short builds all types of loft conversions, such dormers and the installation of rooflights/Velux™ which allow the householder to keep the shape of the existing roof. Craig Short carries out loft conversions by following one of the two procedures below:

Dormers

This option is where the existing loft space is of insufficient size for the proposed conversion. It creates additional headroom for the staircase and new room(s).

Rooflight/Velux™

This option is generally adequate for those contemplating the smaller loft conversion, generally for a single bedroom, study, etc, where adequate height is available within the existing loft space. Rooflights/Velux™ can be installed with minimum disruption, as the shape of the existing roof does not need to be altered. We are able to manage the project from the outset, either contracting directly to experienced architects or recommending a known and trusted architect to draw the initial plans. The architect will handle the planning permission application (if planning permission is required) and building regulations application, and we will then carry out the build stage from this point. We often find that the client already has drawings, planning permission has been granted (or is not needed) and they have building regulations approval. We will then take over the project for the build stage.

House Extensions

Craig short builds all types of house extensions, such as side returns, rear extensions and roof extensions, which are commonly found in Bristol.

We carry out extension projects by following one of the two procedures below: We are able to manage the project from the outset, either contracting directly to experienced architects or recommending a known and trusted architect to draw the initial plans. The architect will handle the planning and building regulations application, and we will then carry out the build stage from this point. Single storey house extension

This can add a kitchen or additional living space to your home, increasing the value of your property. Extending your existing kitchen into the side return can create a stunning new kitchen/living area and will be much admired by friends and family. Two-storey house extension

Roof extension

This can turn an existing three-bedroom house into a five-bedroom house or an existing five-bedroom house into a seven-bedroom house. The value added to your property will by far exceed the cost of carrying out the works.
